Why is it they can release who is on the LCDR boards but not on the actual pro-rec boards for selection?

CDR Wilkes was on the LDO panel. Experience was great...I look forward to sharing what I can when I can.

I'm not very familiar with how the Navy does things in this area so the inconsistency made me curious. It made sense to me to keep all the boards confidential for the same reasons, I just wondered why the promotional boards were not.

The Commander may have a more significant insight into this, but it may be because the messages go out after the promotion boards (not before). I think this may allow for general trend/guidance to the greater officer community to get an idea where the URL members and community members are placing the greatest weight when it comes to selections.

Great group to select the next crop of LCDR's!
This will be a tough board. And will only get tougher.

I will tell you that the board does not select Officers, it votes on records. We promote the paper that represents the Officers, we do not necessarily promote the Officers. Make sure your paper is accurate and represents you in the most positive light possible. As you grow into becoming a RS, make sure you advocate strongest for those who are most deserving and speak frankly about those who may not be. Being the nice guy (on FITREPs) to everyone is what leaves us all scratching our head when those we value most are overlooked in favor of those who we believe are lesser.

It's all about the paper!
