Anyone else watch the IWCSync stream from last night? Not sure if the rewind is available yet. Good info on cross detailing, graduate education options, and Tinder for detailers. Lots more discussed, but I won't spoil it all.

I watched a couple minutes of it. It was on too late for me.

I caught the rewind. Great questions fielded and excellent info on cross-detailing for XOs as well as continuing development of path to IWC.

DId I hear correctly that to be selected for the O-6 IWC @ Sea positions it's preferred that one have CSG experience. Does that make non-DIWC O-5 milestones almost an automatic disqualifier for selection to O-6? Did anyone else get the same interpretation?

i didn't get that at all. i thought they were indicating O5 DIWCs on CSGs would continue to be 1810s (not cross detailed). i think the conversation on promotion was just illustrating one of many tracks to O6 - good performance as O5 CO or XO, in milestone (and they just happened to mention O5 DIWC, which is only on CSG) = good chance for O6.

My interpretation of the response was if you don't have strike group/ESG experience as CRC or DIWC the likelihood of selection for the O-6 IWC position is lower. CAPT Berg specifically stated that they want post-major command O-6's with strike group (and then she corrected to include ESG) experience.

This is consistent with what I have heard recently.

I think it is common sense... when you think best and fully qualified.... fully qualified is post major command CAPT from all IWC communities... that is still a bunch of folks. Best qualified starts narrowing folks down... this with CSG, ESG, and some #d fleet experience likely more competitive than those without for the CSG IWC position....
