comments by CDR Hatcher:
OCS is the primary path for the active duty, but if you are interested in applying for the IDC Reserve Community, the Direct Commission (DIRCOM) Program offers college graduates a commission as Intelligence, Information Warfare, Information Professional,or Meteorology Officers. The following link provides more detail on the communities: http://www.navyreserve.com/careers/information-and-technology.html

The following link provides contact info on the IDC Reserves based on the applicant's current residence:
http://www.navyreserveintelligence.com

Many of the OCS tenets mentioned above ring true for the competitive DIRCOM program, the Reserves are also looking for the "whole" person.

The first step is the Recruiter and reaching out to your friendly Regional IDC Officer in Charge (OIC).

CDR Hatcher currently serves as the OIC for IDC Region Mid-Atlantic, there are six Regions across the nation each with an OIC who manages the IDC Reserves DIRCOM program.
