Former CTI

Former CTI

Is anyone a former CTI? I am curious as to what role they play in this community and what they can specifically bring to the table.

Thanks in advance.

Former CTI, aye -- 13 years prior enlisted service as an Arling. But despite my many attempts, I haven't really used my language in an official capacity at all since commissioning. Still maintain it, and collect $100 a month, but that is about it.

Seven years former CTI here, too. I talked the command into sending me to 5 weeks of language training a few years ago in been sub trips, and still manage to pull in $150.00 a month or something, but that's about it. You'll find another thread around here discussing regional studies/regional expertise, and the IW community just isn't really all that interested in funding it. Anything you do with your language and/or regional specialty will likely be entirely on your own.

I think you help up in the budget crunch and return your bonus. What a great gesture that would be. :)

I already did... I used to get $200.00 for a 2/2... now its only $150, and there's talk on the street about officers/non-CTIs/FAOs getting that reduced further to a nice, round $0.00.

I could think of better ways to save some money, but I doubt the Navy would want it.

Then he'd be really jealous to know that until I retook the DLPT in February I was getting $400.00 a month for Korean as a 3/3! Going down to a 2/2 sucked in that regard lol.

So far, I have found no DLPT for Tex-Mex or even Texican...hell or even just Texas so yes, I shall be jealous and envious of all those with DLPT bonuses. Thinks I should be able to keep my sea pay over 12 while on shore duty just like every other community..but I digress.

Maybe we should start getting bonuses for being watch officers... that's sort of like sea pay for SWOs and sub pay for Nukes, right?
