Re: Command/Milestone Results

yep, it's silly. board screens officers for command, both those who will command and those who will be in the bank in case something falls through (encumbered, medical, buyer's remorse, unexpected family hardship, investigation, etc, etc). unless I'm missing something - and that's certainly possibl...

Re: Command/Milestone Results

From the instruction: "Selections for O-5 and O-6 command may include QIO selectees. These officers will be assigned to a command when a primary selectee is unable to execute command assignment (encumbered), and the bank has been depleted. QIOs will only be informed of their status if called u...

Re: Command/Milestone Results

Good point. Not to mention the "non-published" O-5 CDR list that's not known until they need someone to take a billet. What if those individuals (unaware that they're on that list) decide to retire or take another position based on retirement plans? How do you plan for that? What exactly ...

Re: CDR and LCDR Milestone List (Updated as of 20 Aug 2018)

"didn't meet the criteria of supporting our core war fighting areas". Yeah, if only we had a 3 star capable of lobbying to ensure the COCOMs were supporting our community's core war fighting area. Anything wrong there? Two things: 1) COCOMs are the top level operational commanders with AL...

Re: CDR and LCDR Milestone List (Updated as of 20 Aug 2018)

I'm with everyone else in that I'm unsure of why the COCOM billets aren't on the Milestone but from the cover letter it appears they didn't meet the criteria of supporting our core war fighting areas; I know 2 of the AFRICOM billets did not. I know many don't see it this way (me included) but C10F ...

Re: Appropriately place cyber

https://www.afcea.org/content/army-leads-other-services-cyber-realm How to build a cyber which supports your armed service? Leadership, ideas, knowing where to put it, and understanding your service processes enough to execute the ideas. We can't get there from here without major changes. Interesti...

Re: CDR and LCDR Milestone List (Updated as of 20 Aug 2018)

Well, if working cyber planning at a geographic combatant command isn't MS worthy, then I have no idea what is. The job was joint, interagency, and required you to be intimately familiar with both operational and strategic levels of war as you worked to integrate cyber into existing operations AND f...

CDR and LCDR Milestone List (Updated as of 20 Aug 2018)

https://www.milsuite.mil/book/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadBody/501192-102-1-829277/1808%20CW%20MILESTONE%20LIST.pdf The updated CDR and LCDR milestone list was just posted. Frankly, I'm a bit surprised at some of the billets added and even more surprised at some of the billets removed. BLUF: ALL bil...

Re: FY19 board Statistics (CAPT & CDR) - 1810

They are useless because we continue to get the denominator wrong. When I was the OCM (cue the old guy music), I owned the stats and changed the denominator. The denominator was not the number of selects, but the number of people who shared the experience. X of 12 who were CRCs were picked, etc. Su...
