Re: Block 40 Recommendation

Just looked back at all my FITREPS, starting with LT: CSG CRC , Detailer / NSW , Detailer / Special Programs, Detailer / XO , Detailer / Command, Joint Staff / CO, Joint / Command, CDR Milestone / Command, Flag EA. Those in bold are jobs I have actually held, or are penciled in to go to next. v/r C...

Re: Block 40 Recommendation

Good morning, I was hoping to get some advice regarding the oft-overlooked Block 40 on our Navy FITREPs. Has anyone received any recent advice from a peer/mentor about what to put in Block 40 post-O-4 MS? O-4 Leadership, War College, and fellowship/scholarship opportunities are obvious choices. Wha...

Re: WHY WE NEED IO......

We, as a community, are doing great SIGINT, EW, and cyber work. Our Sailors are amazing and have us excelling at a level far beyond that which could be expected. But, we are qualifying success based on what we can do/get/affect and that often does not connect with the "so what" in the gra...

Re: WHY WE NEED IO......

Well, with all the news buzz lately, it appears that while we once had the opportunity to leverage the Info Environment through our investments in IO, we dropped the ball by sending mixed messages and by not committing to the charge. Of course this is my humble opinion, and I'm sure many of you wil...

Re: NAVIFOR vs. FCC vs. C10F

What if we reached further down and asked "Who gets to determine the capabilities a CPT or CMT are supposed to have?" A complex question that I certainly cannot answer, but easily on par with Fleet size, warship capabilities, aircraft weapons systems, etc. I should admit to having an agen...

Re: NAVIFOR vs. FCC vs. C10F

I think the breakdowns over the last few posts have been fantastic, so thank you to 20yearman, COMEVIL, and Yoshi. A piece of this we're not really addressing because maybe because it's beyond the scope is how all of this translates to warfighting effects to the geographic combatant commanders. Does...

Re: NAVIFOR vs. FCC vs. C10F

My understanding (functional, not doctrinal): - C10F - similar to other Fleets, force provider to operational components in support of combatant commander requirements (this sentence is wrought with Farragut-style torpedoes... could spawn 234234 other posts just on this topic alone) - NAVIFOR / FCC ...

Re: IWC Synch

I agree that the CW Community (and Navy writ large) is delinquent in providing operational planning training; Army JO's grow up understanding the planning process and are experts at it. The lack of Op Planning training is a major reason on why we haven't fully integrated within the other operationa...

Re: IWC Synch

That's a fair point. Recoding would identify the "why" which would instill purpose and cause a better understanding for where we should better integrate communities inside IWC commands. We'd very likely get more out of such an approach than out of a "dis-associated Intel/IP/CWO/METOC...
