Re: FY-18 ACTIVE-DUTY NAVY LIEUTENANT COMMANDER LINE SELECTI

How can you tell who above, in, and below? Sent from my Nexus 9 using Tapatalk Comparing the zone message with the officer precedence numbers of the folks selected. For example, if you look up the lineal number of the junior person in-zone, anyone else with a higher number was below zone. Similarly...

Re: O-5 Command Results Released?

"The CCMD sets the priorities and provides general tasking...". All plans and their pieces flow from this authority level. Title 10 operations and campaigns - which I believe will become increasingly important - are born here. The point I was making is our component cyber activities cost ...

Re: O-5 Command Results Released?

Owning mission = decision authority to conduct operations in a given theater, whether they be joint (COCOM level) or component (#'d Fleet). Influencing, persuading, coordinating are not the same thing. Think about how many people we have in FCC/C10F doing the influencing, persuading, coordinating. ...

Re: O-5 Command Results Released?

-we continue to report up to FCC/C10F via WAR as if operations at national sites and in overseas theaters are somehow owned by us. we give this information to someone who is completely powerless to do anything and has no authority to make decisions. and, we continually waste time and effort of our ...

Re: O-6 results

Looking forward to seeing if these topics get brought up at one of the upcoming mid-career course offerings. Maybe I'll toss the turd into the punch bowl and watch the IWC professionals who are likely all smarter than me figure out a solution.

Re: Poll: cyber becomes it's own thing, cryppies become 183

Consolidating cyber into one designator would also help focus personnel utilization on the Reserve side. Right now, all of the 1815 mobilizations are basically either SIGINT or IO planning (and I thought we didn't do IO anymore..?). We haven't had any luck trying to get cyber-focused 1815 officers ...

Re: Poll: cyber becomes it's own thing, cryppies become 183

My thoughts from January 2016 on this subject... More Than a Name Change That post evolved into the opportunity to help write the Cryptologic Community Vision. Has anyone seen the IWC Vision? IP Vision? Intel Vision? Oceano Vision? I remember reading that post and being unsure how to react to it, b...

Re: Poll: cyber becomes it's own thing, cryppies become 183

Frankly, I'd advocate for an entirely new service for Cyber (akin to Army, Navy, Air Force, etc.).

We're at the point where I think that would be beneficial.

Re: IWDC Warfare Tactics Instructor Specialties Request

Random thoughts: - We aren't building officers specifically to become WTIs, so worrying about the fact that our officer development pipelines don't produce a plethora of people who fit that model shouldn't concern us. Once criteria are settled on, some people will have the right set of experiences a...

Re: O-6 results

Good points. You're saying you can't dress up a turd by painting it in a better light or giving it a fancy name.
