How easy is it to score these PEP jobs? At what level should you look into completing a tour like this if you're interested (LTJG/LT, LT/LCDR, etc)? They seem like great opportunities to live abroad and interact with a foreign service... both of which I would be very interested in doing. I'm current...

IW boards are generally held at the end of the month. Regardless, I wouldn't worry too much about it... results won't come out until early next month anyway.

Well, I guess now we know what they think about the Intel community... no mention of anything IW/IO in there though.

I 100% agree with you, but as an attorney representing NIOC you wouldn't go to the command and DO IO, or as an attorney representing a doctor go to a hospital and see patients. Learning about a topic and spending the time to qualify to participate as an equal is very different. Effectively, that's w...

Not sure it's so much human nature as an institutionalized problem that's been perpetuated through what we're told by detailers/senior officers (regarding the value/necessity of having a pin/OOD letter to O4 promotion), and by our failure to effectively communicate our roles/capabilities to the aflo...

Having served PCS aboard two ships (LHD & DDG) I can say that the level of credibility goes way up in the Wardroom once you attain your SWO Qual. It is more important than ever as we make recommendations to the CO/CSO/WEPS/OPS on actions to take in a principal warfare area. Our recommendations on S...

This is a good discussion (missed it when it was new as I was doing the DSO thing... ironically enough). As a JO we we've been told that no matter how much time you have underway as a subsurface DSO the detailer is going to push PCS afloat because we're on "shore duty." This is "shore duty" despite ...

Hopefully I'm not overstepping my bounds, but I hardly would call the budget issues and reaction to the economy right now a highlight of the administration (and I'll keep the rest of my thoughts there... no need to turn this into a political debate).

Yea, I was operating under the same policy, however, I was hoping for something in black and white to show recruiters who were still operating under the idea that calc and physics is 100% required to apply.

Thanks for the help. I'll look up that information.
