I love this conversation. It's always good to get manpower facts straight from the source. There's an abundance of skuttlebutt floating around out there of questionable quality. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm betting that the IW community sees much higher retention rates than its SWO/Nuke/whoever ...

We are now keeping NROTC and USNA training attrites to ensure there is some ROI. My original statement regarding the abundance of JO's some communities had and the fact that attrites were being discharged was mostly in terms of non-USNA and NROTC Sailors, due to the differing amount of money alread...

WRT URL... Understood wrt the URL vs RL thing. I probably should have figured there would be a lot of extra baggage associated with that. WRT FB... Visit the page and see if you get anything out of it, or better yet why not contribute to the discussion. Not mandatory, just more evidence that there ...

IW RL/URL Debate

We are looking into our presence at USNA. Right now we cannot fill our current LT and above billets, so growth is not something for which we are lobbying. At the same time, we can only access from the NPQ pool, so there is minimal ROI. One way we can mitigate this is by transferring IW to the URL s...

Sum 1, Have you been to the IW blog on the NNWC SITE? It's CAC enabled. That is supposed to be the official "RADM Deets approved" site. Nope, I didn't know about it. CAC enabled computers are tough to get onto at NIOC HI due to the limited number (and it seems like all the ones there always have ai...

The government of Russia used to (maybe still does) send every DLI graduate a congratulations letter for completing Russian language training and becoming a CTI. Personally, as someone who has a pretty good idea of how research and targeting is done on our side a site like FB would make that job WAY...

Weren't we swearing off social networking sites in terms of talking about our warfare community? I know the Navy didn't even want DLI graduates talking about going to school there, much less all joining a group and creating a one-stop-shop for intel targeting.

It really depends on whether or not the language is "dominant in force" and what your background is. DLI graduates or individuals who learned a language on the Navy's dime are always eligible to receive FLPP. Heritage speakers or people who learned a language through other means are a little more co...

EXCLUSIVE: U.S. failed to use best radar for N. Korea missile

http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/apr/15/us-failed-to-use-best-radar-for-n-korea-missile/ Well... now I know what the giant golf ball-like dome on a platform is called (and what it's used for). Funny I couldn't find anything about it in high side channels when I looked a year or so ago.

I'm curious why it would be career suicide?
