There are various formal training sessions they do here. I see emails on it occaisionally. As Arkad said NIOC Norfolk would be the easiest place to start and should have visibility on the training opportunities.

At one point CTM was going to go away but it didn't thankfully. I think any of the CT rates would be good to go into but CTM probably the closest to what you've been doing. CTT would give you a technical side and operational experience as well. Seems the Navy can't make enough. Best advice I can off...

Short answer I don't know. I did look at the instruction and the requirements are pretty specific. Might be something to suggest to the program manager. I doubt it will change though since I'm guessing that was probably considered already.
