Re: Poll: cyber becomes it's own thing, cryppies become 183

Frankly, I'd advocate for an entirely new service for Cyber (akin to Army, Navy, Air Force, etc.).

We're at the point where I think that would be beneficial.

Re: IWDC Warfare Tactics Instructor Specialties Request

Random thoughts: - We aren't building officers specifically to become WTIs, so worrying about the fact that our officer development pipelines don't produce a plethora of people who fit that model shouldn't concern us. Once criteria are settled on, some people will have the right set of experiences a...

Re: O-6 results

Good points. You're saying you can't dress up a turd by painting it in a better light or giving it a fancy name.

Re: O-6 results

So, is your question really if we're looking to get to success with an IW Afloat model or a CW Afloat model? It seems less like we're adding titles and more like our equities get a seat at the table with the perennial big boys. This assumes that we weren't already adding value afloat..which we were...

Re: O-6 results

So, where is the value added? We have created/shifted an O-6 IW Commander (IWC) billet, added a designated DIWC (senior CDR), but done literally nothing else. Is this how we get to success as an IW Afloat model by adding more titles? I think it's clear that snatching IWC away from the carrier CO an...

Re: O-6 results

As far as the DIWC position opening to the full IWC instead of 1810s, I'd be hesitant to assign any meaning to that decision beyond the fact that if IWC is open to all, then DIWC should be, as well. I haven't seen anything to confirm or deny this, but making DIWC open to all, as well, means there i...

Re: All new evals and fitreps coming soon

My former department head from my afloat PCS tour is an O-4 aide working for one of the Admirals rolling this out. He's super stoked on it, so I'm cautiously optimistic that it'll be done right. Changing culture is always the most difficult task for organizational leadership, so it won't be easy try...

Re: O-6 results

I know the new IWC positions are all-IWC jobs, but I was not tracking that DIWC was being changed from 1810 to all-IWC, as well. What's your source for that tidbit, if you don't mind my asking? Source is my next (old) command. Haven't seen the official doc, but emails ref a CNIF instruction that es...

Re: O-6 results

Three primary take-aways... 1) As per the precept, if you complete O5 Command, you make O6 2) If you don't screen for O5 Command and instead complete O5 XO, you get promoted 3) If neither 1 nor 2, then kick but as a DIWC and come out on the topside of the crunch Important to note that DIWC is no lo...
