However (and while this might not apply to you, I'll add it here for SA), if you were DLI trained in a language you are always eligible for FLPP, regardless of whether you are using it in your current billet or if the language is dominant in force. I was a prior Korean linguist and am eligible for F...

I only say a 2nd DIRSUP tour because at a place like NIOC Yoko the only difference between PCS afloat and DIRSUP is when your ship is in port you're sitting in an office building rather than on the ship. You're on board every time it gets underway and still have the opportunity to earn your warfare ...

Each have a DIRSUP mission, but it won't expose you to the national intelligence side that the big NSA sites will, and you won't be able to get the real watchfloor experience. Overall, you get an opportunity to learn more things and get a more complete idea of the opportunities for IW officers as a ...

I only partially agree with the above poster. The reasoning behind sending you to large NIOCs/RSOCs after IWBC is to expose you to as many facets of the IW job as possible. The reality of your situation is you will most likely end up working as a watch officer sooner or later, so getting that exposu...

From an outsider looking in and not totally understanding all the legality involved (but someone who knows how hard we can get hammered for committing a security violation in the fleet), why do you guys have to sign an NDA? Should it pretty much be covered with the whole "proper handling of classif...

Withing knowing more there's no way of knowing if the activity was illegal or not. The article goes into just enough detail to freak the public (but isn't that the point?) and not enough for people who actually understand what's going on to determine if something illegal actually happened.

Linguist says US intelligence spied on Blair

http://www.ft.com/cms/s/0/f67344a4-ba81-11dd-aecd-0000779fd18c.html So... all these former NSA and military linguists talking about the agency forced me to ask myself... is the NDA I signed even worth the paper it's written on? I sure as hell hope this stuff isn't covered under the whistleblower la...

Great point. This is a baby step in the right direction, but the Navy has bigger issues with keeping SWOs and nuclear qualified Submariners in the service. The Navy throws TONS of money at the nukes, and yet they get out in droves. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that it's not all about the m...
