Re: FY19 board Statistics (CAPT & CDR) - 1810

More details on the new commands here....https://stationhypo.com/2018/08/10/cryptologic-warfare-group-six/ Zero details on the new commands at that location. If you want to read a history of CWG-6 and/or NSGA and/or NIOC Maryland, go there. If you're looking for anything else (like me), it will hav...

Re: FY19 board Statistics (CAPT & CDR) - 1810

Just found out today that 10th Fleet stood up three more commands.

Relevant changes or more unnecessary reorganizations? I have no idea what they're supposed to do, so I'm curious to hear from someone who does.

Re: FY19 board Statistics (CAPT & CDR) - 1810

Wondering how much that will impact our community, since we're continuously told that we don't have enough officers in the O-4 and above inventory.

Re: FY19 board Statistics (CAPT & CDR) - 1810

The 1810 community has had people in the USNA PMP/JPMP program for years and I believe we also have a couple of billets at War College, but those individuals are somewhat constrained by the college curriculum. JPMP, yes, but not full PMP. And there are two billets (that I'm aware of) at the War Col...

Re: FY19 board Statistics (CAPT & CDR) - 1810

Seems fewer milestones would produce quicker O5 retirements. Or maybe the detailers would be willing to entertain allowing some of our officers to do other things, like attache gigs or general staff tours. Although, now that I say that, fewer milestones doesn't necessarily mean fewer O-5 billets to...

Re: FY19 board Statistics (CAPT & CDR) - 1810

Saying we have too many milestones is different than saying only Flag signed FITREP positions should be milestone. Who said they should be Flag signed FITREP positions? No brainer - milestones should be signed by flags. Personally believe we should have fewer milestones, screening should be a scree...

Re: FY19 board Statistics (CAPT & CDR) - 1810

There's also plenty of people in the Community that think the DIWC position is overrated and not worthy of milestone so there's different views throughout. I haven't met a single person who shares this view. Now, there is a discussion about why we get sent somewhere to be the DIWC when in actuality...

Re: FY19 board Statistics (CAPT & CDR) - 1810

Rather, the community direction (and, frankly, the navy's design and C2 of FCC/C10F) believes Distributed Operations and cyber will find a way to benefit the sea-going Navy. We'll see. I hope we, as a community, do a better job finding ways to get distributed ops and cyber in a position to benefit ...

Re: FY19 board Statistics (CAPT & CDR) - 1810

As a mentor, I recommend going to a milestone the results in a Flag-level FITREP (not sure how many of those there are). That is the best/only way to use a milestone tour to break out. That's an interesting and, I believe, good recommendation. Even flag FITREPs vary wildly, though. Do all O-4 and a...

Re: FY19 board Statistics (CAPT & CDR) - 1810

There was also an attached note from CAPT Kramer discussing how worthless the stats are and how he doesn't feel any pressure or need to disseminate. His point (BLUF) was the stats reflect what the convening order said. Here's his full comment: Leaders, I’ve had quite a few officers asking me to pub...
