Re: CDR and LCDR Milestone List (Updated as of 20 Aug 2018)

"didn't meet the criteria of supporting our core war fighting areas". Yeah, if only we had a 3 star capable of lobbying to ensure the COCOMs were supporting our community's core war fighting area. Anything wrong there? Two things: 1) COCOMs are the top level operational commanders with ALL...

https://www.afcea.org/content/army-leads-other-services-cyber-realm How to build a cyber which supports your armed service? Leadership, ideas, knowing where to put it, and understanding your service processes enough to execute the ideas. We can't get there from here without major changes. Interestin...

Re: CDR and LCDR Milestone List (Updated as of 20 Aug 2018)

Our O6s and above don't see it this way, I don't think. Their career path wasn't fashioned in a way which inculcated primacy of Fleet and warfighting breadth. CYBERCOM will always seek to realign everything it possibly can, just as any other organization would. CYBERCOM and its service components ar...

Re: CDR and LCDR Milestone List (Updated as of 20 Aug 2018)

Think you'd appreciate this bit from CAPT Rielage, if you haven't already seen it: "Similarly, we needed to align our command and control across warfare domains. We decided that fleet commanders could synchronize, command, and control all the tools of naval warfare—except in cyber. I am convinc...

Re: CDR and LCDR Milestone List (Updated as of 20 Aug 2018)

actually ok with this list, although it's still too large for both ranks. and, still far too much credit given to FCC/C10F (given small impact to Naval operations) and way too much given to cyber. but, I suppose that is owing to our community confusing Title 50 operations with warfighting. It isn't....

Re: FY19 board Statistics (CAPT & CDR) - 1810

Found it (explanation of the new commands. It isn't perfect, but it shows the thought train: Canc frp: Jun 2018 OPNAVNOTE 5400 Ser DNS-33/17U102237 5 Jun 2017 OPNAV NOTICE 5400 From: Chief of Naval Operations Subj: RENAME NAVY INFORMATION OPERATIONS COMMAND MARYLAND AND ESTABLISH CRYPTOLOGIC WARFARE...

Re: FY19 board Statistics (CAPT & CDR) - 1810

sum1: saw a friend describe CWA-66 mission as: 'to provide and deploy trained and ready cryptologic warfare officers and cryptologic technicians to support the collection and exploitation of targets in support of national signals intelligence priorities.' it was a mission statement snippet from a do...
