Re: Significant changes to LDO for IWC

It's not this community - it's the navy. I'm curious to get your take - what do you think the Navy is trying to accomplish? Do you see a balancing act between wardroom competence and numbers management (I do) or do you feel we have sufficient wardroom competence to afford such a change? Competence ...

Re: Significant changes to LDO for IWC

It's unfortunate. Seems we've twisted the purpose of the LDO and now it's simply a supplemental accession method to ensure adequate officer capacity (commissioning for numbers value instead of content value). At some point, such decision making leads down a path of negative results. Considering the...

Re: Intel Officer Question

I'm aware that Intel officers perform all source analysis :) (well, some do... others just give excuses why they don't have the expertise required to do the kind of all source analysis the N3/J3 needs) I meant the role of AI and someone who can write and optimize AI / Machine Learning algorithms. I ...

Re: Intel Officer Question

Personally, If you're a data scientist writing machine learning algorithms I'd think you'd be a better fit for Cryptologic Warfare Officer (CWO). All the Intel officers I've ever met really do spend most of their time honing briefing skills. It's a core capability. #1 is "all of the above"...

Re: O-5 Command Results Released?

While self-nomination is one method to obtain Joint Credit, after serving on multiple 4-star Staffs to include a COCOM, the actual experience is phenomenal. The ability to understand and participate in the planning as well as Senior-level discussion on major topics has served me well; additionally ...

Re: WHY WE NEED IO......

Bumping this because as my time at the CCMD doing IO and Cyber draws to a close, the thought that we're missing an incredible opportunity keeps growing. IO seems like a dirty word in our community, but it's incredibly important to the joint warfighter. The 4-star routinely wants to know what IO/non-...

Re: 111

I know that in the past you could have the JDAL tour length waivered down to 22.5 months if there is an urgent need while still getting the officer full joint tour credit. An F-18 pilot colleague had this happen when he was selected for command. He left early to start his command track training. Th...
